RMO vs scriptiong on hybrid 2000 2005 replication

I have created the plication and push subscription on SQL 2000 by running sql scripts. I can view it through management console already.

but on SQL 2000 server, i dont' know how to start the snapshot agent and how to synchronize explicitly. In 2005, there is a system sp

sp_startpublication_snapshot @.publication = @.publication

can do the job. can you tell me how to do the same in the sql 2000?

additionally, I tried to use RMO to implement the replication. but it seems some of the classes only support 2005. doesnt' it means RMO can't be used to program on hybrid replication environment?

plz reply. thanks

In SQL 2000, you'll have to query for the snapshot agent job name and call sp_start_job.

To program replication in SQL 2000 you can use activex controls, or you can install SQL 2005 components on the boxes and use RMO, but as you see you'll be limited to classes that support SQL 2000 only.

RMO Equivalent for Merge Replication T-SQL Procedures

We want to have some information about RMO (Replication Management Objects in SQL Server 2005) equivalent for the following Merge Replication T-SQL procedures.

sp_changemergearticle
sp_helpmergearticleconflicts
sp_helpmergeconflictrows
sp_helpmergedeleteconflictrows
sp_deletemergeconflictrow

Since I was not aware of these RMO properties, here is a response from someone who has that knowledge.

Changing properties in MergeArticle object should be calling sp_changemergearticle.

Replicationdatabase.EnumCOnflcitTables should be equivalent to sp_hlepmergecarticleConflicts.

I don’t think we have any RMO methods that are equivalent to the last 3 proc calls

|||Thanks Mahesh, for your information. We will check that, if you can find any equivalent implementation for other three methods or any work around in order to use the other three methods that would be great ful.

Thanks
VDeevi.|||Sure, I will let you know.
Meanwhile, cant you wrap the other calls as a sql statement and make the calls? Also, you could add your logic in that! wouldnt that work for you?|||Thanks for your information. We will try to build the components based on the sproc calls to these stored procedures using ADO.Net. Once again thanks for your help.

Thankssql

Rights Management in Reporting Service- Organisation wide

Hello Experts,

We are using Reporting service as our reporting solution. as of now we manually add user and give them browser rights.

Is there a way by which i dont have to add users to the security section of the report for users to view it.

As we have a very big organization who would be using some reports. adding each user will be a night mare.

Any idea to get rid of this.

/Soni

Hello Soni,

If your company network is a Windows network, you can use Windows Authentication. You can make a group or use existing groups to authenticate users or groups of users to use reports. This is quite a big topic so you could best check BOL on this.

...my 'Properties' option is GONE...DISAPPEARED...MISSING...
I want to be able to set permissions etc of the SP...which i can get

Have searched around and cannot find anythingg that might tell me how

Any ideas folks...!?
My list of dislikes for the new management studio is growing...this is

I'm having the same issue. I only noticed because my asp.net app which
is running in debug mode on my laptop is reporting that it can't see
the stored proc at all.
Right-click on the server machine on the sp name doesn't give me a
"properties" menu item...

No joy for me, so doing it the manual way, e.g. :
"grant execute on theStoredProcedureName to theUser" from the
management studio.
